Terms of Service
Effective June 12, 2026
The deal in one line: run what you like inside the boundary, don't aim it at other people, pay for the seconds you use. The enforceable version follows.
01The service
Shells provides isolated cloud sandboxes — created, controlled, and destroyed by you through the console, the API and SDK, or the MCP server. We operate the infrastructure; the workloads, and the choice of isolation class for them, are yours.
02Your account
You are responsible for what happens under your account and for the agents you grant the shells.agent.invoke entitlement. Keep credentials confidential — term credentials expire in minutes by design, so re-mint rather than store.
03Acceptable use
Sandboxes exist so risky code can run safely — bring your fuzzing, your untrusted dependencies, your half-finished agents. What you may not bring:
attacks on systems you don't own or lack permission to test; malware distribution or command-and-control; cryptocurrency mining; spam or abuse infrastructure; content that is illegal where you or we operate; and attempts to break the isolation boundary itself, outside of coordinated disclosure to security@shells.sh.
04Billing
Paid plans bill a platform fee plus per-second runtime at the published rates by isolation class. Metering starts when a session starts. Lifecycle actions are free on every plan. Unpaid balances may lead to suspension after notice; your data handling on closure follows the Privacy Policy.
05Your content
Code and data you run in shells remain yours. You grant us only the rights needed to execute and store them as directed by you. We do not train models on your sandbox contents.
06Availability & changes
We aim for boring reliability but the service is provided as is, without warranty of uninterrupted availability. Free-tier shells idle out and are wiped after a grace period. We may change features with notice in the changelog; material reductions to paid plans get advance email notice.
07Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability is capped at the amounts you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, and neither side is liable for indirect or consequential damages. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
08Termination
You can stop using Shells at any time — wipe your shells and walk away, nothing lingers. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with notice unless the violation is actively harming others.
09Contact
Questions about these terms go to legal@shells.sh. These terms are the entire agreement for the service unless your organization has signed an enterprise agreement, which then prevails.
